Faculty Clinical Research Platform (FCRP)

The Faculty Clinical Research Platform (FCRP) fosters careers of young clinical researchers at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern. To this end the FCRP launches competitive research funding calls for clinical research in the framework of PhD studies, habilitations, assistant lectureships and assistant professorships. Supported projects are intended to exploit synergies between clinical and non-clinical disciplines. The FCRP also provides guidance in career development and coordinates the availability of laboratory facilities and techniques for clinical researchers at the faculty. The overarching goal is to assist in the development of the next generations of academics in veterinary clinical sciences.

Head of Ruminant Surgery at the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zürich

Dr. Emma Marchionatti, Clinic for Ruminants, has successfully completed her doctorate and was appointed the new Head of Ruminant Surgery at the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Zurich on 1 December 2024. Congratulations!

Dr. Jacinto received President's Award

Dr. med. vet. Joana Jacinto, PhD, Dip. ECBHM, clinical scientist at the Clinic for Ruminants and the Institute of Genetics as well as grantee of the FCRP received the President's Award from the World Association of Buiatrics (WAB). This award recognises the active participation of Dr. Jacinto in the 2024 World Buiatrics Congress (WBC) in Cancun, Mexico.

Grant Albert-Heim-Stiftung

Dr. med. vet. Laureen Peters, Clinical Laboratory, has successfully obtained a grant from the Albert Heim Foundation of the Swiss Cynological Society for the project ‘Tissue expression profile of regenerating island-derived protein 3E in healthy dogs and dogs with sepsis’. Congratulations!

Assistant Professorship in Anesthesiology and Pain Management

Dr. Alessandro Mirra, Clinical Anesthesiology, has been offered an Assistant Professorship in "Anesthesiology and Pain Management" at the University of Montreal. He will begin his new role in January 2025. Congratulations!

Steering Board: new member

Dr. med. vet. Laureen Peters is the follower of Prof. Dr. med. vet. Petra Roosje in the Steering Board Committee. She is one of the representative of the DKV and intermediate staff organization.

SNFS Spark Grant

Dr. Alessandro Mirra, Clinical Anesthesiology, received an SNFS Spark Grant for his project "The unprocessed electroencephalographic signal: a new window into the assessment of depth of anaesthesia and nociception in experimental pigs?". Congratulations!
